Project Overview

Delivering Critical Port Infrastructure Under Extraordinary Conditions

During the winter of 2014, we supported the assembly of heavy port cranes at the Port of Odesa under exceptionally demanding operating conditions. The project combined technically complex lifting operations with severe weather, where freezing temperatures affected both equipment and site conditions. At the same time, the rapidly changing geopolitical situation in Ukraine created additional challenges for project planning, workforce coordination and logistics.

Despite these circumstances, the project remained focused on its primary objective: the safe and successful assembly of critical port infrastructure.

Operational Resilience

Maintaining Safety, Project Continuity and Equipment Recovery

Heavy lifting operations were carried out using detailed lift planning, continuous risk assessment and close coordination with an international project team. As conditions across the region evolved, we implemented contingency measures to protect personnel, maintain operational control and complete the project safely. Following the successful completion of the lifting works, the heavy equipment fleet, including cranes recently mobilised from another industrial project in eastern Ukraine, was safely demobilised and evacuated, ensuring that both personnel and assets were recovered without incident.

Successfully completed heavy port crane assembly while ensuring the safe evacuation of international personnel and specialised lifting equipment during one of the most challenging operational periods in modern Ukrainian history.
