Heavy Lift Installation for Industrial Gas Infrastructure

The construction of new cryogenic facilities at the Metinvest Enakievo Steel Plant required the installation of two 450-tonne cold boxes, forming a critical part of the site’s industrial gas infrastructure. Due to the dimensions and weight of the modules, the project demanded one of the largest crawler crane configurations deployed in Ukraine at the time, together with carefully coordinated international logistics and heavy-lift planning.

We were responsible for delivering the heavy lifting scope, ensuring the safe installation of both cold boxes while maintaining the project’s construction schedule.

International Heavy Lift and Multi-Crane Coordination

International Heavy Lift and Multi-Crane Coordination

The lifting operations were executed using a 1,250-tonne Manitowoc CC6800 crawler crane as the primary lifting crane, while a 600-tonne Liebherr LR1600 served both as the assembly crane during CC6800 erection and as the tailing crane throughout the installation sequence. Local lifting activities were supported by UTEM Krane and additional crawler cranes. Both the CC6800 and LR1600 were transported from Western Europe through a coordinated international heavy transport programme managed by the project logistics team. The combination of detailed lift planning, international equipment mobilisation and coordinated crane operations enabled the safe installation of both cold boxes within the planned execution window.

Successfully mobilised and operated a 1,250-tonne crawler crane to install two 450-tonne cryogenic cold boxes, combining international heavy transport with precision heavy-lift engineering for a major industrial plant expansion.
