A 750-tonne bridge section raised to a world-record height of 19 metres before being transported and installed with millimetre precision in the heart of Kyiv.
The Podilsko-Voskresensky Bridge is one of Ukraine’s most ambitious transport infrastructure projects, designed to connect central Kyiv with the city’s rapidly expanding left bank. As part of its construction, a 750-tonne pre-assembled steel bridge section had to be lifted to an unprecedented height of 19 metres before being transported into its final position above one of the busiest construction sites in the capital.
The operation demanded more than lifting capacity alone. With limited working space, strict geometric tolerances and no opportunity for error, every stage of the installation had to be meticulously engineered to ensure the bridge section remained perfectly balanced and aligned throughout the lifting and transport sequence.
The installation was carried out using four synchronized JS500 climbing jacking towers, each with a lifting capacity of 500 tonnes, operating as a single integrated system. The bridge section was progressively elevated to 19 metres under continuous monitoring of load distribution and structural level. The combination of synchronized hydraulic jacking and precision heavy transport enabled the safe installation of the bridge section within the constrained urban construction environment while achieving a record-breaking lifting height.
