International Relocation of Port Infrastructure

As part of the expansion of TIS Group’s container terminal at Yuzhnyi Port, two ship-to-shore (STS) container cranes were relocated from the Port of Rotterdam to Ukraine. The project required precise heavy transport engineering at both ports, ensuring the safe transfer of critical port infrastructure while maintaining strict operational and logistical coordination across international borders.

Phenyx Rebuild delivered the heavy transport scope, supporting both the load-out in Rotterdam and the load-in at Yuzhnyi Port.

SPMT-Based Heavy Transport Across Two European Ports

SPMT-Based Heavy Transport Across Two European Ports

The relocation was executed using two 16-line self-propelled modular transporter (SPMT) configurations, providing the stability and precision required to handle 750-tonne ship-to-shore container cranes. At the Port of Rotterdam, the cranes were transferred from the terminal infrastructure onto the transport system for shipment to Ukraine. Following arrival at Yuzhnyi Port, the same heavy transport methodology was used to position the cranes at their new operating location. Detailed transport planning, precise load control and coordinated operations between both ports ensured the successful completion of the international relocation.

Successfully relocated two 750-tonne ship-to-shore container cranes between the Netherlands and Ukraine using precision SPMT transport, supporting the expansion of one of Ukraine's largest container terminals.
